World’s First Underwater Hotel Makes Its Debut
Dive right into a new kind of hotel experience. The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island has opened its doors to the world’s first underwater hotel residence. Built on land in Singapore, the building was shipped to the Maldives, lowered into the water, and nailed into place with concrete pylons to withstand high tide.
Designed as a suite, the two-story villa sits 16 feet below the Indian Ocean. Named “Muraka,” which is “coral” in the local language of Dhivehi, the luxury hotel residence features a shower, bed, private gym, bar, infinity pool, ocean-facing bathtub, butler’s quarter, and of course, an underwater bedroom. With the top floor above sea level, there’s a relaxation deck available to catch the sun.
So, how much does a trip under the sea cost? Priced at $50,000 a night, the minimum stay is a four-night package for $200,000, which includes the use of a private boat and a personal chef. Additionally, guests who stay at Muraka are automatically granted Hilton Diamond Status.
