Weekender: On The Connect Media Trail

National  + Weekender  |

Connect Media covered the nation this week. Seriously, the team logged thousands of miles, rode countless elevators to meetings and attended a full slate of CRE events (and we’re still all “geeked up” and ready for ICSC’s big gathering next week in Las Vegas).

Here’s a photo recap of where you may have bumped into a member of the Connect team in New York, Texas, Colorado and California recently. We look forward to connecting with you in your neighborhood soon.

Connect New York Launch – Next Generation Luncheon
Connect Media’s NY launch event featured a blend of stimulating panel conversations and serious networking among NY’s up-and-coming stars and industry giants. Connect may be relatively new to NYC, but we definitely know how to make a big entrance, even in the Big Apple.

NAIOP SoCal’s 27th Annual Night at the Fights
More than 1,000 CRE professionals converged on Hotel Irvine for what is the undisputed heavyweight client appreciation gathering, and elite-level industry networking event in SoCal. The black-tie night featured competitive boxing entertainment. Below is Night at the Fights committee chair Zach Niles (center, seated) with committee members.

The pinnacle of the evening was undoubtedly the eagerly-anticipated grand finale Main Event, the first-ever Real Estate Rumble featuring two CRE brokers. Marcus & Millichap’s Andrew Irvine (on left in blue) and Lee & Associates’ Chuck Campbell fought three rounds, with Irvine declared the winner.

Connect Media was on the road to the ring with the fighters, capturing the training, press conferences, as well as pre-fight staging. Here’s a link to the fight promo video produced by Connect Studios.

NAIOP SoCal presented $10,000 to the Building Block Foundation Fund from event proceeds. NAIOP SoCal President Lance Ryan made an official check presentation to Building Block representatives Brian Airth and Bob O’Neill in the ring.

Connect San Francisco

Connect San Francisco brought hundreds of CRE professionals to the SPUR Urban Center for an afternoon of panels and an evening of networking and cocktails. The discussions covered such topics as major mega developments shaping the skyline, investment in the Bay Area, and the creation of communities. Here’s our conference recap: Millennials, Boomers and Airbnb.

BOMA Denver MOB
Connect Media made a quick stop in Denver for BOMA’s Medical Office Buildings & Healthcare Real Estate Conference. Connect Media is launching a new healthcare initiative. Look for more details soon. While the Coors Field baseball stadium isn’t exactly a medical facility, the air in the Mile High City was cleansing.

Allen, Texas EDC Luncheon

Connect Media’s Joni Margotta attended the Allen Economic Development Corp. luncheon, where Hines unveiled plans for a 135-acre mixed-use development in Allen, TX.

NAIOP North Texas Broker Awards
Connect Media’s colors were also flying high at the NAIOP North Texas Chapter’s Broker Awards at Royal Oaks Country Club.

Connect Media Opens Texas Office

It didn’t take long for Connect Media to set up shop in Texas. Since launching our daily news covering all the big Texas markets in 2016, we’ve been busy building a team of CRE folks from the Lone Star State. We now have a place to officially call our Texas home. Connect Media’s office is in Houston’s CityWestPlace at 2101 CityWest Blvd. Feel free to contact the Connect Media team including: Joni Margotta, Director of Sales, [email protected], or Liz LeDoux, Conference Producer [email protected].

NAIOP SoCal’s YPG Leadership Summit

Connect Media was there to capture highlights of NAIOP SoCal Young Professionals Group’s (YPG) first-ever Leadership Summit. The gathering for CRE next-gen professionals included a keynote address by big wave surfer and entrepreneur Laird Hamilton.
