Tacoma Arts Live to Close, Sell Armory and Event Venue

Tacoma Arts Live, a nonprofit that supports entertainment and educational programs, will close its doors this summer.

The 2025 to 2026 performing arts season will be its last, the organization announced after 47 years of serving the creative community. The nonprofit’s event space, the Tacoma Armory, will eventually go up for sale. The armory’s auditorium spans approximately 21,000 square feet, and the property features nearly 40,000 square feet of office space.

While Tacoma Arts Live’s programs will continue with a new name, other programs will cease following the closure. That includes its performing arts season and events such as Brew 53, Arts in the Armory and Sunday rollerskating at the Armory. The sale of the Tacoma Armory will pay off the organization’s debt, and the remaining proceeds will support the ongoing education program. The nonprofit cited a combination of debt, declining ticket sales, and grants as the reason for the closure.
