Starbucks Says Ciao to Italy

National  + Weekender  |

With its first foray into Italy, Starbucks is opening a Roastery location in Milan. Unlike its typical stores, the Roastery locations are made for an upscale experience where customers can choose from alcoholic beverages to pizza.

The location, just steps from the iconic Duomo di Milano, is 25,000 square feet and features exotic coffees from over 30 countries and freshly baked goods from local baker, Rocco Princi. Along with the Italian location, Starbucks is looking to open four Roasteries by 2020, in New York, Chicago and Tokyo.

Howard Shultz, former executive chairman of Starbucks said, “We are not coming here to teach Italians how to make coffee, we’re coming here with humility and respect, to show what we’ve learned.”
