Rivian Opens Showroom at Westfield Old Orchard Mall
Rivian has opened its second Chicago-area store at Old Orchard Mall in Skokie.
The 3,500-square-foot store is located at the 1.5 million-square-foot mall and includes Rivian’s flagship electric vehicles on display. The electric vehicle maker also has a 5,160-square-foot Gold Coast location which features cars made at the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois.
Rivian now has 15 retail locations across the country and in Canada. Called “Spaces,” the retail showrooms allow customers to experience Rivian products and see displays of the parts and materials used in the company’s models.
Earlier this year, Rivian received an $827-million incentive package from the State of Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity to expand operations at its Normal plant. The funds will go towards expanding the plant, improving public infrastructure and offering job training programs for Rivian’s workforce, leading up to the company’s production of its midsized SUV, R2.
