Remote Working Works for More and More Companies
A growing number of people work out of home, or in coffee shops or other places that are not the offices of their employers.
“Remote Work Can’t Be Stopped,” said a recent headline in the Wall Street Journal. Already, more than half of the employees at Dell work remotely at least one day a week. One-of-five workers do all of their work remotely, according to polling from Gallup.
Remote working is spreading, even though companies like IBM, Bank of America and Aetna now question whether working remotely makes their workers more productive or saves them money.
Companies are still figuring how to encourage their employees to work together collaboratively… whether in person at an office or through technologies designed to help remote workers share information… or both. The decisions employers make will have a big effect on the office space they need.
