Port of Seattle Details Maritime Improvement Plans
The Port of Seattle has laid its plans for spending after adopting the 2024 budget. More than $85 million has been committed to extending the Port’s shore power initiative and construction of a new maritime startup accelerator.
The Port’s maritime capital improvement plan includes funding to break ground on the renovation of the 109-year-old Ship Supply Building at Fisherman’s Terminal, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Other projects include replacing and repairing underwater pier infrastructure and adding industrial space at the north end of Terminal 91. The majority of the capital spending is dedicated to a series of megaprojects at Sea-Tac, including the $1.1 billion overhaul of the S and C concourses.
“Our vision for the port of the future requires bold investments to maintain a competitive global gateway, reach for that ‘5 Star’ status for our airport, and become the cleanest and greenest port in North America,” said Port Commission President Sam Cho.
