Oregon Governor Brown Orders Oregonians to Stay Home
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has issued Executive Order 20-12, directing everyone in Oregon to stay at home to the maximum extent possible, and adding to the list of businesses that will be temporarily closed. The order is effective immediately, and remains in effect until ended by the Governor.
The directive closes and prohibits shopping at specific categories of retail businesses, for which close personal contact is difficult to avoid, such as arcades, barber shops, hair salons, gyms and fitness studios, skating rinks, theaters, and yoga studios.
The list of businesses or facilities to remain open and activities allowed (must keep six feet from others) includes:
- Hospitals and health care
- Grocery stores
- Banks
- Pharmacies
- Take-out/delivery from restaurants and bars
- Pet stores
- Gas stations
- Certain retail stores
- Outdoor activities such as walking a dog, jogging, or biking in a neighborhood
- Childcare facilities and babysitters (only if abiding by new rules)
The Governor also temporarily halted residential evictions for nonpayment across the state.
