IL College of Osteopathic Medicine Set to Break Ground in the West Loop
The Community Solution Education System and The Chicago School will host a groundbreaking event next week for the newly acquired co-location located at 400 S. Jefferson Street in Chicago’s West Loop.
The building will also house The Chicago School’s proposed Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM), which will integrate mental health education throughout its curriculum and harness artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to improve training for the next generation of doctors.
400 S. Jefferson is the former headquarters of Tyson Foods, and the building is being repurposed into a 247,000-square-foot facility. It is expected to open in 2026 and will accommodate approximately 1,800 students, faculty, and staff from the two organizations.
The Chicago School aims to build a pipeline of physicians and the proposed IllinoisCOM will be a catalyst for economic growth, helping to revitalize Chicago’s central business district. In the next 12 years, the school is expected to generate $1 billion in total economic impact.
