Historic Hotels of America Reveals Most Haunted Historic Hotels
With Halloween just around the corner, Historic Hotels of America has been busy pulling together its annual “Top 25 Haunted Hotels” in the United States. While the majority of those on the list are along the Eastern Seaboard, one of the properties on the list was found as far west as Hawaii.
In putting together its list, the Washington, DC-headquartered organization didn’t reveal its methodology, other than to suggest that “The spirits reported to reside within these Historic Hotels of America have been described as sad to happy, shy to friendly, slowly meandering to in a rush, in work clothes to elaborately dressed, and range from young to old,” according to Historic Hotels of America’s Lawrence Horwitz.
The organization has 300 hotels on its registry, and Horwitz indicated that some of the paranormal activity occurring on the property’s pre-date actual construction of the hotels, while “others figure prominently from the early years of the historic hotels.”
Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the organization recognizes the finest historic hotels. The hotels on the list maintain their authenticity, sense of place and architectural integrity.
