FRT to Renovate Fairfax Shopping Center

Federal Realty Investment Trust is set to renovate the Pan Am Shopping Center in Fairfax, Virginia. This 228,000-square-foot retail destination will undergo a modernization project starting in late June and expected to complete by year-end.

The renovation will feature a new color palette, façade upgrades, canopy ceiling and lighting enhancements, two trellis features with new furniture, improved landscaping, and updated signage. Built in 1979 and acquired by Federal Realty in 1993, the center is located at the intersection of Lee Highway and Nutley Street. Anchored by Safeway, Microcenter, and Michaels, the Pan Am Shopping Center also hosts dining and retail establishments, including Glory Days Grill, L’Image Beauty, Starbucks, and CVS Pharmacy.

“Pan Am Shopping Center has been a cornerstone of the Fairfax community for decades,” said Deirdre Johnson, senior vice president of Asset Management for Federal Realty. “The renovation will introduce new outdoor seating, mural art, ambient lighting, and bike racks, enhancing the customer experience.”
