Family Dollar to Close Locations Across Illinois

At least two Family Dollar stores in Peoria, Illinois, are slated to close following the company’s recent plans to close nearly 1,000 locations throughout the country, reported the JournalStar.

Family Dollar’s website lists dozens currently in Missouri and also Illinois, as well as other states throughout the Midwest. Dollar Tree missed market expectations for holiday-quarter sales and profit and announced plans to shutter 970 of its Family Dollar stores, as the retailer looks to revamp the struggling business.

Out of the 1,000 Family Dollar Stores, 600 will be closed by the end of the first half of this year, with 370 more scheduled for closure over the next few years. Dollar Tree also said it would be closing 30 Dollar Tree stores when their leases expire.
