Dallas Area Chosen for Large Scale Cold Storage Project

Developer Barber Partners and investment firm Bain Capital are teaming up to build a number of cold storage warehouses. The first project is a speculative freezer/cooler facility in Dallas. The 302,000 square foot building will be set on 34 acres. Construction is expected to begin early this summer. Bain says it’s putting up to $500 million into the projects. They currently are looking at building as many as 15 throughout the country.

Barber Partners Chairman, Patrick Barber, believes the Covid pandemic may have helped speed up the demand for cold storage capacity, “There is no question that there is an enormous need for new, modern cold storage facilities…even before Covid the consumption of prepared and frozen meals was rapidly on the rise.”

The facilities will all carry the Chill Storage brand.
