Chicago Bears Commit to New Stadium in Arlington Heights

The National Football League’s Chicago Bears confirmed in a letter to fans that the team plans to build a new fixed-roof stadium in suburban Arlington Heights, Illinois, about 25 miles northwest of its current location at Soldier Field.

“Moving outside of the city of Chicago is not a decision we reached easily,” Bears president and CEO Kevin Warren said in a statement. “The project provides us the opportunity to build a stadium and mixed-use development that will benefit our fans, our region, and our future together.”

The Bears estimate the new Arlington Heights stadium will create more than 56,000 construction jobs and 9,000 permanent jobs. The team says it will build a world-class stadium that requires zero money from the State of Illinois for its construction. The Bears estimate the project will deliver $10 billion in economic impact attributed to statewide construction, and $256 million in annual statewide new business and tourism impact.
