Chicago-Based Potbelly to Open First Orlando Location
Potbelly Corporation, a Chicago-based sandwich shop, is opening its first location in Orlando, marking the company’s entry into the Central Florida market. Located in the Milk District along one of Orlando’s primary retail corridors, the Colonial Landing shopping plaza, the shop will open later this month.
This will be the first of twelve planned locations in a multi-unit agreement with Sugarland Investment Group, LLC, which will open shops over the next seven years. In addition to the new Orlando shop, Potbelly announced in mid-2023 that it has nearly 50 locations in various stages of development throughout the state of Florida.
Over the past 18 months, the company has finalized multi-unit agreements with five franchise groups to develop another 40 shops in Tampa, Fort Myers, Broward County, Gainesville and Panama City. Potbelly opened its first shop in Chicago in 1977 and has expanded across the country with company-owned and franchise locations.
