100 Most Popular Active Adult Communities for 2018
The rankings of the top 100 most popular active adult communities in the U.S. are out, and there’s a surprise at the top. Every year since 2013, when 55Places.com began compiling the list, The Villages near Orlando has sat atop the list.
This year, Latitude Margaritaville in Daytona Beach, FL claimed the No. 1 spot, with On Top of the World in Ocala, FL ranked second, followed by Sun City Hilton Head in Bluffton, SC.
Communities are rated on such things as page views and homebuyer inquiries to determine the most popular.
Atop the 2018 list is Minto Communities’ and Margaritaville Holdings’ 1,600-acre new active adult community that’s inspired by the music and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett. Latitude Margaritaville is a gated community of 6,900 single-family homes with prices starting in the low $200,000s. The planned amenities range from an amphitheater for live music, to a restaurant offering Margaritaville-inspired dishes and drinks. The community’s sales campaign was initiated late last year, but has already received a staggering amount of interest from potential Parrothead buyers, with demand expected to remain strong into next year.
