Morningstar Announces New Global HQ at Chicago’s Thompson Center

Chicago-based financial services firm Morningstar, Inc., announced plans to relocate its global headquarters to the Thompson Center and plans to occupy more than 275,000 square feet.

Morningstar was represented by Stacy Osmond of DLA Piper and the CBRE team of Jon Milonas, Peter Livaditis, and Haley Maxwell. Located at 171 N. LaSalle Street, the Thompson Center is one of the city’s highest-profile revitalization projects, adapting and transforming an iconic landmark into a modern workplace. Morningstar will co-anchor the building with Google. The company plans to move in late 2028.

“Morningstar was founded in Chicago more than four decades ago, and we’re proud to continue building our future here. As long-term investors, we believe in backing people and communities with enduring potential,” said Kunal Kapoor, CEO of Morningstar. “Our new headquarters and community commitment reflect our confidence in Chicago, our people, and the opportunities ahead.”
