Fairstead Moves Regional HQ from Bethesda to D.C.

Fairstead, a New York-based developer, has relocated the company’s mid-Atlantic headquarters from suburban Maryland to D.C.

The national real estate organization, which specializes in building sustainable communities, signed a five-year, 3,223-square-foot lease at 1101 16th St. NW, leaving 7,653 square feet at 4550 Montgomery Ave. in Bethesda, reported the Washington Business Journal. Fairstead reduced its footprint as part of the move which was part of efforts to be closer to key government agencies and financial organizations in the region.

The 16th Street property, developed by Akridge and partner Stars REI, is adjacent to Carr Properties’ Midtown Center which is home to Fannie Mae’s headquarters. The 102,000-square-foot office building features a lounge, views of the White House, and a fitness center. The relocation also coincides with the firm’s ten-year anniversary of Fairstead, which has more than 2,000 housing units either under ownership or in the pipeline in D.C., Virginia and Maryland.
