Fannie Mae to Keep Downtown DC Headquarters
Fannie Mae has entered into a new lease at Midtown Center for its downtown D.C. headquarters. The mortgage giant will occupy approximately 340,000 square feet on a long-term basis at the 900,000 square foot office building owned by Carr Properties in a joint venture with IGIS Asset Management.
The move comes after Fannie Mae had initially signaled its intent to exit the Midtown Center headquarters in January. “We are proud to continue our relationship with Fannie Mae and want to thank them for their partnership as we worked together to complete a new lease for their headquarters at Midtown Center,” said Oliver Carr, CEO of Carr Properties.
Fannie Mae was represented in the transaction by Art Santry and Ned Goodwin of Cushman & Wakefield and Philip Horowitz, and Jean Yin Crews from Venable, LLP. Carr Properties was represented by Kaitlyn Rausse, Carr’s Senior Vice President of Leasing, Valerie Kelly, a partner at Fried Frank, and real estate associate Cathy Bushong.
