Zoning Approved for $12B Data Center Campus in Kansas

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, has approved rezoning for a proposed $12.6 billion data center campus to be developed by Red Wolf DCD Properties. The 550-acre site, located west of the Kansas Speedway, is slated to host six buildings totaling approximately 1.8 million square feet.

Three 330,000-square-foot data center buildings and a substation are being proposed on each side of Parallel Parkway, reported the Kansas City Business Journal. Each proposed building is valued at roughly $2.1 billion, with a total project investment of approximately $12.6 billion. Thomas & Hutton is the engineer and Bell-Knott & Associates is the architect.

The development aims to bolster the region’s digital infrastructure and attract further tech investment. The company that would operate the data center campus has not been disclosed. The project is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the area, including job creation and increased tax revenue.
