ZEISS Innovation Center Combines Business Lines in One Facility

The new ZEISS Innovation Center at 5300 Central Pkwy. in Dublin, CA brings together different lines of business within one facility. And, the office and R&D facility cements ZEISS’ presence as a major part of the Bay Area’s innovation economy.

The 208,650-square-foot three-story building sits on 11.36 acres. The site development includes the supporting parking area, service zone, landscaped areas and infrastructure to sustain an on-site wetland. To support the function of an existing wetland, the Gensler team designed the building to embrace the natural feature and make it a key element from the arrival point.

Inspired by the client vision to make the unnecessary invisible, the design showcases the ZEISS brand and mission with a minimalist aesthetic. The atrium spaces create opportunities for connection and activity. Glass and light define labs at the ground floor, transparent glass on the upper floors denote work areas and translucent vertical fins were used on all elevations to control light.
