Work Underway on Harlingen Convention Center

Following three years of planning, dirt work has commenced on a 44,436-square-foot convention center in Harlingen, TX. The actual construction launch on the $16.7 million center will begin in late 2017. The development will be situated on eight acres at Teege Avenue and Brazil Road.

The city is financing the project with $9.7 million generated through the Harlingen Community Improvement Board’s sales tax, as well as $3.8 million in hotel occupancy tax.

A 150-room Hilton Garden will also be built on a two-acre site adjacent to the convention center. BC Lynd Hospitality, a San Antonio developer, will build the hotel, which will be attached to the center. BC Lynd will also operate and manage the convention center for the city.
