Work Commences on 48K-SF AB West

The Harris County Department of Education officially broke ground on the Academic and Behavior School West — AB West. The building, which is situated on 6.5 acres at 12772 Medfield Dr. in southwest Houston, represents a relocation from its current site at 7800 Westglen Dr. in Houston.

The Academic and Behavior School programs serve students throughout Harris County who have intellectual or developmental disabilities, and challenging behaviors. Hallmarks of the program include a low, student-to-instructor ratio, small classes and individualized learning plans.

The new building will offer 28 classrooms, a gated outdoor walking trail, courtyard with outdoor basketball court, domestic lab for life skills students, and elevated flood plan, with added retention and emergency generator, to serve high-risk students.
