VENU McKinney breaks ground

Work Begins on $300M McKinney Amphitheater

The future site of the much-anticipated 20,000-seat live music venue facility broke ground in McKinney. The Sunset Amphitheater at McKinney will be located on 46 acres near U.S. 75 and Highway 121. It will be a first-of-its-kind live music venue in Texas, slated to open in the third quarter of 2026.

The Sunset Amphitheater at McKinney, with a flexible multi-season configuration, enables year-round programming, premium LuxeFire Suites, a canopied roof and wind walls designed to provide protection from inclement weather and a comfortable atmosphere in the winter. The venue boasts The Aikman Club, a members-only club offering cuisine nestled at the very center of the amphitheater.

The venue is being developed as part of a public-private partnership between VENU, the City of McKinney, the McKinney Economic Development Corporation and the McKinney Community Development Corporation. Slated to open in Summer 2026, the $300 million venue is projected to generate more than $3 billion in economic impact over its first 10 years of operation.
