Work Begins on $48M Agricultural Complex
West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX, began construction on a $48.1 million Agricultural Sciences Complex. The 160,000-square-foot complex is slated for completion by fall 2018, Once completed, it will hold the school’s agricultural sciences program, and assist in a veterinary partnership with Texas A&M University.
The complex will be located on Russell Long Boulevard, east of Buffalo Sports Park, and will include a research laboratory, classrooms, a multipurpose area, and office space that will help double the size of the agricultural sciences faculty. The building will be named the Piehl-Schaeffer Pavilion after the two families that donated $1.5 million to the university.
The groundbreaking takes place approximately three weeks after the Amarillo City Council granted Texas Tech University System a $15 million incentive to build a new vet school in Amarillo.
