The oaks in “Gosling Oaks” get top billing due to the role the three trees will play in the 50-acre mixed use project in the Woodlands. Newman Development Corporation is relocating three mature oaks, to be placed around in the entry area for the development and will be incorporated into the final construction of the area.

The project is slated to contain 140,000 square feet of retail and medical office space with a 390-unit mutlifamily complex. “We just felt like, if we can, let’s save the trees that are possible, especially the ones that have the most impact,” Nate Newman said. Additionally, the company has plans for six upscale restaurants, one with a rooftop patio bar overlooking the oak trees. Newman expects to break ground on the commercial segment in the first or second quarter of next year and to complete it by spring 2025.
