Women in Real Estate Honoree: Jennifer Carey, JLC Environmental Consultants

Jennifer Carey founded JLC Environmental Consultants 30 years ago with a small investment of a few thousand dollars. It might have been difficult, back then, to see the value of the properties that needed environmental remediation — sites like old factories, rail yards or waterfront warehouses.

Today, as CEO of JLC, she leads a multi-million dollar environmental practice that worked on projects like the Barclays Center, the demolition of the old Yankee Stadium, and the Willets Point redevelopment at Citifield.

Those are just some of the reasons we chose Carey to be one of the 2017 Women in Real Estate Award winners for New York. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of those women who’ve reached respected positions of leadership, and play key mentorship roles for others in commercial real estate.

This year, Carey is also president of the CREW Network Foundation. In 2017, the Foundation has exceeded every organizational goal and benchmark in supporting college scholarships and programs to introduce girls and women to careers in commercial real estate.
