Women in Real Estate Honoree: Helen Hwang, Meridian Investment Sales

Helen Hwang oversees institutional investment sales at Meridian Investment Sales, and has sold more than $25 billion in property over the course of her career.

As senior executive managing director, she leads a team of eight brokers, empowering each to utilize their knowledge, relationships and insights to positively impact deals.

For example, in 2017 she and her team helped The New School buy 40 W. 14th St. nearby its campus in Manhattan. The building provides stable income from retail spaces. There are also several long-term office leases with staggered expirations, which might have been awkward for another buyer, but will provide the school with time to slowly expand in the building as the leases expire.

Transactions like these are just one of the reasons we chose Hwang to be one of the 2017 Women in Real Estate Award winners for New York. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of those women who’ve reached respected positions of leadership, and play key mentorship roles for others in commercial real estate.

Before joining Meridian, she served 16 years at Cushman & Wakefield, rising to the role of co-head of the firm’s investment sales team.
