Women in Real Estate 2018: TD Bank’s Henke Combines Sustainability, Innovation

Two years ago, Jacquelynn Henke transformed her role as VP of sustainability at TD Bank in Boston to include innovation. In doing so, she was ahead of the wave of CRE professionals who are now bringing sustainability and innovation together to leverage their synergies, and enabled TD Bank to scale the positive impact of these initiatives at a faster pace.

That’s just one of reasons we chose Henke as one of the 2018 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

Henke was the project manager for the initiative that brought TD and its facility management vendor together under a groundbreaking Vested Outsourcing contract. Based on research completed at the University of Tennessee, Vested Outsourcing rewards the vendor for bringing new processes and technologies to the relationship.

Before TD invested in this contract type, only a few large corporations were involved. After TD entered into it, and started speaking about it publicly, more real estate organizations, including CBRE and JLL, started to investigate. This relationship has delivered millions in savings and innovation initiatives.

Outside of work, Henke is a serial volunteer for causes she believes in. As an example, she was instrumental in establishing a Massachusetts chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
