Women in Real Estate 2018: Kidder Mathews’ Yang Bridges Gaps Across Cultures

Holly Yang joined Kidder Mathews in 2013, and launched the firm’s China Service Group platform in the Seattle market. She has been instrumental in promoting Chinese investments locally by providing bilingual brokerage service to cross-border investors.

That she was born and raised in China is only one factor in her success. Yang is also regarded as an exceptional real estate strategist with a broad range of skills. Two years after entering the commercial real estate field in 2006, Yang earned her CCIM designation.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Yang as one of the 2018 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

Yang builds bridges between Chinese investors and American sellers. “Knowing the nuances of both cultures helps me to bridge the gap and guide clients effectively and efficiently in making acquisitions and development decisions,” says Yang. “Lots of people perceive being a minority as a disadvantage; I turned it into an advantage.”

Serving on the board of the Washington State China Relations Council, Yang is also chair of the women’s leadership committee at WSCRC. The group held its first, well-attended, forum in July. “It’s very gratifying sitting in front of other females having a candid dialogue on women’s leadership,” she says.
