Women in Real Estate 2018: FTI’s Jackson Takes a People Approach

Laura Jackson is a managing director in FTI Consulting’s real estate solutions practice, where she guides public REITs, family-owned real estate companies and funds through the tax aspects of complex real estate deals. One of her key strengths is her people approach to business, including an ability to communicate tax issues in a simple manner.

In 2017, Jackson worked on one of the largest deals in New York City, a joint venture acquisition by two leading real estate companies. Her ability to understand the business side of the transaction, manage client relationships involved and client expectations, drove the due diligence to be completed ahead of schedule.

That’s just one of the reasons we chose Jackson as one of the 2018 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

Creating tax solutions for clients isn’t enough for Jackson. She has engaged the help of her noteworthy female clients to create a committee called “She Builds,” that focuses on empowering women in real estate, while giving back to the communities that they serve.

The committee recently raised $100,000 to complete its third annual “She Builds Day,” where over 100 women in real estate volunteered to rebuild a community center, providing wrap-around social services to 1,000 residents.
