Women in Real Estate 2018: Cushman & Wakefield’s Maloney Drives Growth

As president of asset services, Americas, Marla Maloney focuses on client care, consistent improvement to the Asset Services operating platform, best-in-class service delivery and steady growth for the 700-million-plus-square-foot portfolio.

Under her leadership through a series of mergers with DTZ and Cushman & Wakefield and several other acquisitions, the platform’s total managed square footage has grown 75% from 2014 to 2017, with more than 100 million square feet added in 2017 alone. By product type, industrial square footage has grown 94%, office square footage has grown 48% and retail square footage has grown 167%.

This impressive growth is just one reason we chose Maloney as one of the 2018 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

Throughout these acquisitions, the St. Louis-based Maloney has played a critical role in integrating and merging Cushman & Wakefield’s culture and best practices, with the goal of motivating the team of nearly 4,000 associates to be excited about the firm’s future and the services it provides.

She teaches the “CEO of the property” mentality, instilling in her property managers the desire to run their properties as if they owned them, which ensures tenant retention and client satisfaction. Further, she’s able to anticipate and embrace change and adjust her leadership style and priorities.
