Women in Real Estate 2018: CBRE’s Nagler-Cohen Provides a Steady Hand

Susan Nagler-Cohen distinguished herself in 1991 when she joined the Edward S. Gordon Company’s New York Consulting Group, one of the first women hired into the group and one of a handful of women on the entire New York team. Later, she distinguished herself again when CBRE, which in the interim had acquired ESG, appointed her to lead the group. At the time, Nagler-Cohen was one of the first women appointed to a senior role, and among the first to lead a line-of-business.

That’s just one reason we chose Nagler-Cohen as one of the 2018 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

Under Nagler-Cohen’s leadership, the New York consulting and agency groups have produced top-line growth of over 80% in the past five years, along with 2,000-plus deals totaling over 100 million square feet nationally. The teams have received the Real Estate Board of New York’s Ingenious Deal of the Year Award 20 times, an unmatched tally.

Early in her career as a leader, Nagler-Cohen recognized the importance of building a team with a cross-section of educations, experiences, genders and racial origins to develop a diversity of thought and approach that would lead to better client outcomes. She has been a strong advocate of this position ever since.
