Women in Real Estate 2020: Goldman Sachs’ Leah Nivison Builds Consensus
A managing director at Goldman Sachs within its Real Estate Financing Group (REFG), which deploys the firm’s balance sheet on mortgage and mezzanine commercial real estate lending opportunities, Leah Nivison heads up REFG’s securitization team, with responsibilities for all new-issue CMBS and mezzanine securitizations. The 20-year veteran is also the CEO of Goldman Sachs’ CMBS depositor entity.
Nivison is seen as exceptionally effective at building consensus with a positive attitude and collaborative style. Her ability to be genuine and practical while demonstrating a mastery of CMBS galvanizes everyone with whom she works and makes her a powerhouse in the real estate industry. In addition, her passion for promoting diversity and gender inclusion makes her a leader and role model for the next generation.

Nivison’s broader engagement with the CRE industry comes in many forms, including her 18-year dedicated membership to CRE Finance Council (CREFC). Currently, she’s serving her second two-year term on the CREFC Board of Governors. She’s the current Secretary of the CREFC Executive Committee and served as chair of the CREFC Women’s Network from 2018 to 2019. In addition, Nivison participates as a mentor in CREFC’s mentorship program and helped organize its Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
