Women in Real Estate 2020: Cushman & Wakefield, PICOR’s Barbi Reuter Holds a Host of Firsts

Cushman & Wakefield, PICOR’s Barbi Reuter holds a host of firsts at Cushman & Wakefield, PICOR in Tucson. She was the first female shareholder at age 26, then was the first to join the C-suite in 2014, and then the first to be named CEO of the firm in 2020. Today, Reuter serves as CEO and Principal in Tucson.

Most recently she navigated COVID’s impact on a 50-member team with no reductions in force or compensation. Similarly, in the years following the Great Financial Recession, where the Southwest/Sunbelt were particularly impacted, no staff was laid off and no salaries were reduced.

Her current national and community roles include advisory, executive and board service for Cushman & Wakefield Women’s Integrated Network (WIN), Cushman & Wakefield Alliance, YMCA of Southern Arizona, Sun Corridor Inc. (southern Arizona’s EDC), and the PICOR Charitable Foundation. She is a member of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council and ICSC. Reuter leads the 2020 cohort for the ULI Southern AZ 2020 Partnership Forum as mentor and was honored by Greater Tucson Leadership as Tucson’s 2019 “Woman of the Year.” She has received “Woman of Influence” recognition at the local, state, and national levels and is a 2020 Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses scholar/graduate.

Reuter is also a trusted and proven leader in CREW Network, both locally and nationally. She was named 2021 CREW Network President-Elect and served as a member of the CREW Network Global Board of Directors in 2015 and 2016. She has served as President of CREW Tucson and held several other positions on the board. She was honored with the CREW Tucson President’s Award in 2011; the chapter’s Professional Service Award in 2009; and the Member-to-Member Business Award in 2007 and 2014.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Reuter as one of the 2020 Women in Real Estate Award winners in Phoenix. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

Last year, she became only the fourth woman to be elected board chair of the Tucson Metro Chamber in the organization’s 124-year history. She has worked to diversify the Chamber board with a balance of race/ethnicity, gender, age, and size and type of business.

Reuter embraces the link between community service/involvement and business success. “Community” is a core value of Cushman & Wakefield PICOR, as reflected by the company’s Foundation that has raised and donated nearly $1,000,000 to community youth programs in the last 25 years. The firm supports employee volunteerism and civic and philanthropic organization leadership on company time and with company financial support.
