Women in Real Estate 2019: CBRE’s Kristina Metzger a Leader in Data Center Sector

Kristina Metzger leads CBRE’s Data Center Capital Markets practice. She has focused exclusively on data centers for more than 10 years, an early adopter of a sector that was once regarded as strictly a niche category in commercial real estate. Today, she’s considered an industry leader in the data center space, having represented clients in transactions totaling more than $3 billion.

Prior to focusing exclusively on the disposition and acquisition of data center investment properties, San Diego-based Metzger was one of CBRE’s top data center tenant advisors. She represented AT&T, American Express, Boeing, Broadcom, and DirecTV in some of the industry’s largest and most complex data center transactions.

She was then tasked with developing a capital markets practice around the sector. Today, she regularly connects interested capital with experience data center operators to drive accretive investments in the data center segment.

“Demand for data center investment has never been greater as aggressive foreign capital, institutional investors and infrastructure funds have started targeting the asset class,” Metzger says. “As many of these groups enter the space, they are targeting direct investments and also joint ventures, recapitalizations, and the outright purchase of data center operating companies.”
