Women in Real Estate 2019: Phyllis Klein Brings Energy and Relationship Building to Capital One

Phyllis Klein came into a newly-created role at Capital One, after a remarkable 18-year career at Fannie Mae. As Capital One’s head of agency production, Klein has established herself as a critical member of the executive team for the bank’s multifamily finance team. She’s a resource and advocate for the originators and relationship managers she oversees. As a reflection of her success in her role, this team is on track to deliver more than $5 billion this year.

At Fannie Mae, where she managed a team of 20, she led the seniors housing business to a record $5 billion in volume for 2017. She helped the team work through a variety of challenges to achieve this. In her role at Fannie, she ran the large borrower group, building relationships across the country. This focus on relationship building is an asset that she’s brought to Capital One as well.

These are just a few reasons we chose Klein as one of the 2019 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

Asked what makes Klein stand out, a colleague cited her energy. “She spends a lot of time in airports and traversing the country, and yet maintains a high level of energy, excitement and positivity,” says her colleague. “This is all extremely motivating to others and leads to great results for our clients.”
