Women in Real Estate 2019: ATCO’s Kate Hemmerdinger Goodman Emphasizes Teamwork

As co-president of ATCO Properties & Management, Kate Hemmerdinger Goodman stands out from her counterparts by bringing her vision, passion and dedication to the company’s legacy portfolio, its construction division and its residential/commercial brokerage divisions. Under her leadership, ATCO has been a major force in New York’s commercial real estate market.

Currently, ATCO is in its fourth generation of family ownership, and the company owns and manages more than 20 buildings ranging from high-rise office and residential towers to retail properties. The company is also currently undertaking Camp North End, a one million square-foot creative development in Charlotte, NC.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Hemmerdinger Goodman as one of the 2019 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

As a dedicated mentor and industry leader, Hemmerdinger Goodman believes that great teamwork starts with open dialogue—and that this can only happen when and where everyone feels safe to speak freely, where no idea is considered silly, and creative thinking is encouraged. “There is no greater satisfaction for me than when my teams work together to solve an issue which previously seemed unmanageable,” she says. “When obstacles are seen as bumps in the road, rather than road blocks, there is a sea of change within an office culture.”
