Williams Equities Completes 350K SF of Leases in Pandemic
Amid a pandemic that curtailed the leasing market in 2020, Williams Equities nonetheless completed more than 350,000 square feet of office and retail transactions throughout its Manhattan portfolio.
Some of its largest transactions in 2020 included: the 120,000-square-foot Home Depot renewal at 28-40 W. 23rd St., one of Manhattan’s biggest retail leases last year; the 130,000-square-foot renewal with Charter Communications at 120 E. 23rd St.; the 36,600-square-foot extension with Regus at 136 Madison Ave., and the 21,200-square-foot Swann Galleries auction house renewal at 104 E. 25th St.
“By a considerable margin 2020 was the most challenging year I’ve experienced throughout my career in real estate,” said Michael T. Cohen, a principal with Williams Equities. “The New York City real estate market is familiar and comfortable with the Williams Equities portfolio and the way we do business, so there was trust on both sides that deals could be arranged.”
