William Lyon Homes Pays $460M to Enter Texas
West Coast homebuilder William Lyon Homes entered into a definitive agreement to acquire RSI Communities, a California and Texas-based homebuilder. The cash purchase price of $460 million includes three additional real estate assets, as well as RSI-controlled lots in Austin, San Antonio and the Inland Empire, CA. The buy represents William Lyon’s entry into Texas, with closing anticipated sometime in Q1 2018.
Upon closing, RSI’s Texas operations will become a new William Lyon Homes region, led by John Bohnen, who is RSI’s current COO. Bohnen will serve as the new company’s regional president.
“The addition of RSI Communities to the William Lyon Homes family enables us to strengthen our position in the land-constrained Southern California market and gain immediate size and scale in Austin as a foothold in the attractive Texas region, which we view as the first step in a broader Texas strategy,” said William Lyon’s Matthew Zaist.
