Will Uber Survive Google’s Latest Venture?
Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc., is looking to shake up the self-driving taxi business with its recent announcement to launch a similar service as early as next year.
After logging more than one million miles by driverless Google cars, Alphabet Inc. is looking to roll out the service in San Francisco and Austin. In a tiered-approach, the option would first become available at corporate parks, college campuses, and military bases, before hitting the streets in these cities.
In September, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick gave $5.5. million to Carnegie Mellon University for robotics research.
Looks like “battle of the bots” will soon be taking it to the streets.
