Will the Spurs Stay or Will They Go?

Earlier this summer, there were announcements regarding San Antonio Spurs minority shares being sold off. With that sale, there was speculation about investors joining the organization as strategic partners. This announcement set off a flurry of speculation about the team moving to Las Vegas.

While the Spurs’ future has been somewhat up in the air, the latest action by team executives may allay questions about where the team will be located. Team officials recently approached the Bexar County Commissioner’s Court to share plans for a 50-acre campus in Northwest San Antonio.

The campus may include a new practice facility, healthcare nodes and an outdoor space. With the possibility of the Spurs investing more than $500 million for new facilities in San Antonio, it’s unlikely the team will be moving anytime soon.
