When Will Facebook Open First Office in San Francisco?
Facebook is contemplating an expansion northward from its Silicon Valley foundation. Word within real estate circles is that the social media giant is eyeing opening its first office in San Francisco.
While a move isn’t imminent, and the company isn’t talking, the sheer size of the space requirement, reportedly in the hundreds of thousands of square feet, is serious CRE business. An office closer to population bases would also help alleviate commute times for employees, and, in effect, serve as a recruiting tool.
Once San Francisco’s Central SoMa Plan is ironed out, Facebook’s preliminary explorations could emerge as a bona fide search. The company still has a major presence in the Silicon Valley, including a 962,000 square-foot office development in the works in Menlo Park, as well as its main HQ in Menlo Park.
