Why Detroit is Becoming a Tech Magnet

Technology is helping to spearhead a nice economic recovery in and around the Motor City, according to Midwest Real Estate News and Jones Lang LaSalle’s latest U.S. Technology Report. The JLL report listed Detroit as among the top 30 in the nation for technology leasing.

Low real estate costs, cost-of-living affordability and talented employees are attracting technology start-ups; Logicalis signed for 40,500 sf at 2500 Telegraph Rd. in Bloomfield Hills, while Lochbridge took down 29,000 sf at 150 W. Jefferson Ave. in the CBD. Meanwhile, Griffels renewed its 67,934-sf lease in Southfield’s Mars Corporate Center.
