Who’s Atop NMHC’s Apartment Owners, Managers and Developers Rankings?

The National Multifamily Housing Council released its annual Top 50 rankings of the nation’s apartment owners, and managers, as well as Top 25 list of developers, contractors and syndicators. The 2017 NMHC 50 lists reflect the record run within the apartment sector.

Memphis, TN-based MAA is ranked as the largest apartment owner in the U.S., with 99,393 apartment homes owned, which was achieved in large part via the acquisition of Post Properties, which added 24,000 apartments to its portfolio.

Charleston, SC-based Greystar Real Estate Partners remained the largest apartment manager, with 415,634 apartments under management, and also jumped to the top of the apartment developers list this year through its 7,623 apartments started in 2016.
