White Lodging Close to Finalizing San Antonio High-Rise Hotel

The Indiana-based company has been meeting with San Antonio decision makers hoping to get final approval on their plans for a 10-story, 347-room hotel tower at 423 S. Alamo St. The project will include the rehabilitation of two adjacent historic buildings; one will be turned into a restaurant and the other will include hotel suites and a small bar.

Although the brand has not been finalized, Kimpton’s website says they have a new hotel opening in San Antonio in early 2023. Plans with a public agency suggests the hotel will open in 2024. White Lodging owns the Marriott Plaza San Antonio Hotel across the street.

Government filings indicate that White Lodging is expecting to spend about $95 million on the project. Early plans feature a rooftop pool and a street-level steakhouse.

The company still has to have its plans reviewed by the city’s Historic and Design Review Commission before moving on.
