When it Comes to Housing, Midland is Hot

Summertime means hot weather throughout much of West Texas. In the summer of 2017, something else has become hot. Namely, the housing market of Midland, TX.

The Q2 2017 Nationwide Health of Housing Markets Report noted that the Midland housing market saw the largest improvement in housing sales out of the 400 metropolitan areas in the United States. One of the reasons for the increase, according to Realtor Victoria Printz, is because of a boom taking place in the Permian Basin.

“But what’s different about this boom . . . is that oil prices are not up, yet companies are still moving large groups of people in,” she told the Midland Reporter Telegram. She went on to say that newer homes have been on the market an average of just 10 days before they are sold.
