Whataburger Affiliate Continues Buying Spree

EG Tejas LLC, a company controlled by Whataburger President and CEO Preston Atkinson and other executives, acquired 28 acres at Loop 410 and U.S. 281 in San Antonio. A Dallas-based partnership sold the land; the sales price was not disclosed. The Bexar Appraisal District assessed the acreage at $9.7 million.

EG Tejas has been on a buying spree, acquiring 9.9 acres in early October 2017, which contains At Home and Tuesday Morning retail outlets. The just-bought acreage is also adjacent to an additional 18.6 acres that EG Tejas and RE Pecan, also controlled by Whataburger executives, acquired in 2017.

According to a spokesperson, the land supports the buyer’s acquisition and development strategy. EG Tejas is a real estate acquisition and development company.
