WeWork Tops JPMorgan for NY’s Largest Tenant Title
WeWork is the largest private occupier of office space in Manhattan, having amassed a NY occupancy totaling more than 5.3 million square feet. That ranks it ahead of banking giants that have dominated the commercial real estate market for years. JPMorgan has 5.2 million square feet, according Cushman & Wakefield.
In total, WeWork has roughly 60 locations across New York City that are either open or about to open, more than 50 of which are in Manhattan. The coworking firm reached the milestone with the signing of a lease for 258,344 square feet at TH Real Estate’s 21 Penn Plaza.
The first WeWork location in downtown Manhattan was a single floor on Grand Street in Soho (pictured), which was met with overwhelming response. WeWork is also the largest private occupier of office space in London and in Washington, D.C. Globally, WeWork now has more than 300 locations open or about to open in 87 cities and 23 countries.
