WeWork Signs Full-Building Lease in Boston’s Downtown Crossing

WeWork has signed a full-building lease at New York developer Midwood Investment’s One Milk Street property in Boston’s Downtown Crossing neighborhood. The coworking company currently has offices in Boston at 33 Arch St., One Beacon Street and 745 Atlantic Ave.

The 36,500-square-foot building was acquired by Midwood in 2015 for $18.2 million. The developer spent most of 2017 and 2018 implementing a full gut renovation at the six-story property. The work included a restoration of the interior architecture and exposed brick dating back to the late 1800s.

The property was home to the Boston Post newspaper until 1905, and is also the site of Benjamin Franklin’s birth. Robert LeClair and Wil Catlin of Boston Realty Advisors represented Midwood in the transaction.
